Manage is a municipality in Hainaut, in the part of Wallonia historically known as the Centre region. It grew during Belgium's industrial age, when coal and heavy industry transformed the land between Charleroi and Mons. The map still carries traces of that period. Terraced streets run in long rows, and open ground marks where industrial sites once stood.
Railways are the clearest lines on the plan. Manage is a rail junction, and its tracks cut through the town in long, gentle curves that housing and roads have to work around.
