The map
Na Klang is a district town in Nong Bua Lamphu province, in the north-eastern region of Thailand known as Isan. Its map shows a modest core of streets along the main road, with a market, temple grounds and government offices, and a loose ring of houses that quickly gives way to paddy fields. The pattern is typical of the plateau: compact settlement, wide farmland.
What sets the district apart is its terrain. Limestone hills rise suddenly from the plain, and one of them holds Wat Tham Erawan, a cave temple reached by a long staircase up the rock face and known across the region. On a map these hills appear as clusters of irregular forms breaking the otherwise flat, finely divided field pattern.
Roads leave Na Klang toward Nong Bua Lamphu and Udon Thani in one direction and Loei in the other, so the town also works as a junction. A Na Klang map poster shows that balance of small grid, long highway and the sudden texture of hills, rendered with the simplicity of a single line.
Streets gather around the main road, market and temple grounds, forming a small, dense cluster at the heart of the poster.
Steep outcrops rise from the plain in the district, including the hill of Wat Tham Erawan, adding sharp, irregular shapes to the flat surroundings.
Rice fields stretch in every direction, divided by embankments and farm tracks into a fine mosaic that fills the edges of the map.
