The map

About this Petaẖ Tiqva map poster

Petaẖ Tiqva lies east of Tel Aviv, in the central coastal plain of Israel. From above, it is a dense and extensive city, with an older centre surrounded by residential neighbourhoods, industrial zones and major roads. The Yarkon River runs along its northern side, where green space and parks break up the built-up area.

Founded in 1878, Petaẖ Tiqva is often called the Mother of the Moshavot, as it was one of the first modern Jewish agricultural settlements in the region. It later grew into one of Israel's larger cities, with high-tech business parks and major hospitals.

A Petaẖ Tiqva map poster shows how a farming settlement developed into a city. The core has irregular streets, while newer areas are more regular. The Red Line light rail now connects the city to Tel Aviv and Bat Yam, adding a new line to the map.
