The map
Písek sits on the Otava River in South Bohemia, and the river defines the shape of its map. The historic centre occupies one bank on gently rising ground, its irregular medieval streets gathered around a long main square, while later districts spread across both sides of the water. Parks and wooded hills close in around the town, giving the built-up area a clear edge.
The town's defining landmark is the Stone Bridge, built in the thirteenth century and the oldest surviving bridge in the Czech Republic, older than Prague's Charles Bridge. On the map it is a short, straight line across the river, yet it anchors everything around it: the old town on one side and the riverside paths and promenades that follow the Otava.
The name Písek means sand, a reference to the gold-bearing sands of the Otava that were panned here in the Middle Ages. A Písek map poster brings together the river, the historic square, the bridge and the forests beyond, in an arrangement that still echoes the medieval town.

The river flows through the town in a broad sweep, dividing districts and bringing riverside parks and paths into the middle of the poster.
The old town gathers around an elongated main square, surrounded by irregular medieval streets that contrast with the straighter lines of later districts.

Why Písek
Písek is a town people grow attached to, whether they studied here, grew up here or stopped on a trip through South Bohemia. A map poster keeps its compact form in view: river, bridge and old streets, without needing a single photograph.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a family name, a graduation year or a short Czech phrase. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and order a print or the HD digital files.
