Yom River
The Yom meanders south through the valley in wide, loose curves. It links the modern town to the historic city and forms the backbone of the whole map.

The map
Si Satchanalai is a district town in Sukhothai province of northern Thailand. It lies along the Yom River, which winds south through a broad valley between low forested hills. The modern town is modest and follows the river and the main road, with rice fields and orchards pressing close on both sides.
Downstream, a short distance south, the old city of Si Satchanalai sits inside a bend of the Yom. It was a twin capital of the Sukhothai kingdom, and today its historical park is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its laterite walls and moat form a clear rectangle on the map, filled with the outlines of temple grounds such as Wat Chang Lom, known for its ring of elephant sculptures.
Nearby, the area was also a major centre of Sawankhalok ceramics, and old kiln sites remain along the river. A Si Satchanalai map poster connects the present-day town and the river corridor with the ancient walled city, so the whole valley reads as one continuous story.

The ancient city's walls and moat enclose a compact area beside a river bend. Inside are the footprints of temples and monasteries from the Sukhothai period.
Paddy fields and orchards fill the flat ground between river and hills. Their small irregular plots give the poster a fine, soft texture.

Why Si Satchanalai
Travellers who cycled among the ruins, students of Thai history and families from Sukhothai province will all recognise this valley. The map offers a quieter view of it than a temple photograph does.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example by centring on the historical park or on a family home in town. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand echoes the colour of the laterite walls.
