Te mapa
Anandpur, widely known as Anandpur Sahib, lies in Rupnagar district of Punjab, at the foot of the Shivalik hills near the Sutlej River. From above, the town is a compact, irregular cluster of streets rising over uneven ground. Gurdwaras and their open courtyards stand out as distinct shapes within the dense built-up area.
It is one of the most important places in Sikh history. Guru Tegh Bahadur founded the town in the seventeenth century, and Guru Gobind Singh created the Khalsa here in 1699. Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, one of the five Takhts of Sikhism, stands in the town. The festival of Hola Mohalla draws very large crowds here each spring.
An Anandpur map poster shows the town between two natural boundaries: the wooded foothills on one side and the broad Sutlej floodplain and its canals on the other. The winding lanes of the old town contrast with the straight lines of canals and roads, and that contrast gives the print a layered character.
Several gurdwaras stand on low rises in and around the town. Their compounds show up on the map as clear open spaces among the surrounding streets.
The Sutlej River and its wide floodplain lie close by. Their braided channels and sandbanks create a soft, shifting edge beyond the town.
A hydel canal runs past the town on a long, straight course. It is one of the most precise and graphic lines in the surrounding landscape.

For Sikh families around the world, Anandpur Sahib is a place of pilgrimage and deep meaning. A map of the town is a respectful way to honour a visit, a family connection or the memory of a Hola Mohalla spent here.
Add a name, the date of a pilgrimage or a short phrase to the title and subtitle, adjust the coordinates, and choose from five styles. The $9 download includes six sizes as PNG and PDF, and framed matte prints are available too.
