Te mapa
Antsohihy is the administrative centre of the Sofia Region in northwestern Madagascar. It sits near the head of a long tidal inlet reaching in from the Mozambique Channel, so the town has both a waterfront and a hilly interior. From above, streets gather close to the shore and then climb onto the rises behind, following the contours rather than any strict grid.
The road network is sparse and legible: a main national route connects the town to the rest of the island, and a handful of streets branch from it toward the port, the market and residential quarters. Beyond the edge of town, open water and countryside quickly take over. An Antsohihy map poster therefore has plenty of breathing space, with a small, clear urban shape set against water.
As a regional capital, the town is a gathering point for administration, trade and transport in a largely rural area where rice fields, rivers and scattered villages dominate. That relationship between a modest centre and the wide landscape around it is what makes the map interesting to look at, and what the minimalist style of the poster brings forward.
A long arm of the sea reaches inland to the town, its irregular shoreline and channels giving the map a strong, organic edge that contrasts with the few straight streets.
Roads leave the waterfront and curve up onto the surrounding rises, bending with the terrain and creating a loose, branching pattern instead of a regular grid.
The main road through town forms the clearest line on the sheet, the connection that ties this regional capital to the rest of northern Madagascar.
