Te mapa
Bay Shore is a hamlet in the Town of Islip, on the south shore of Long Island, facing the Great South Bay. On the map, its streets run south from the main roads toward the water, ending in creeks, marinas and small inlets. Beyond the bay, the thin barrier island of Fire Island shapes the horizon.
Bay Shore is one of the main ferry departure points for Fire Island, and the terminals along the waterfront are busy through the summer. Main Street, part of the Montauk Highway, runs east to west through the centre, while Sunrise Highway and the Long Island Rail Road pass farther north.
A Bay Shore map poster captures the transition from dense suburban streets to the open water of the bay. The long east–west highways cross the frame, the local grid fills the land between them, and the shoreline breaks into creeks and harbours, giving the map a strong sense of place.
The wide, shallow bay forms the southern edge of the hamlet, drawn as a broad open area of water with Fire Island beyond.
Ferry terminals on the Bay Shore waterfront serve communities on Fire Island, making the harbour one of the busiest parts of town in summer.
Small creeks and boat basins cut into the shoreline, adding fine, irregular edges where the residential streets meet the water.

Bay Shore is a place of ferry rides, summer evenings on the water and familiar South Shore streets. A map poster preserves that setting for anyone who calls it home or remembers it fondly.
