Te mapa
Butterfly Estate is a public housing estate in Tuen Mun, in the western New Territories of Hong Kong. It stands near the coast and takes its name from Butterfly Beach, one of the district's public beaches. On a map, the estate's tall residential blocks appear as clusters of distinct shapes near the shoreline.
The surrounding area is typical of a Hong Kong new town. Estates, schools and parks are laid out along wide roads, and the Light Rail network runs through the district in a web of routes. The shore on the west side faces the busy shipping channels of the Pearl River estuary, with the open water marking a clear boundary on the map.
A Butterfly map poster captures a small part of Hong Kong where high-density living and the waterfront meet. The geometry of the housing blocks, the curves of the coastal promenade and the thin Light Rail lines combine into a detailed and readable composition. For families who have lived in the estate, it is a precise view of home.
The beach and waterfront park form a curving edge on the coast and give the estate its name and its seaside setting.
Large residential towers show as distinct building shapes arranged around courtyards and access roads.
Thin rail lines cross Tuen Mun and connect its estates, adding a fine layer of detail to the map.
