Domodedovo lies in Moscow Oblast, south of the capital, along the railway line towards Paveletsky Station. On a map the town follows that railway. Its districts of apartment blocks and low houses are arranged along the tracks and main roads, and forests and fields separate the different parts of the urban district.
The name is widely known because of Domodedovo Airport, one of Moscow's largest. It lies to the east of the town, and its long runways and terminal buildings are among the largest shapes on the map. A road and a rail link connect it to the city. Around the airport and town, the landscape is typical of the Moscow region: patches of woodland, small rivers and dacha settlements.
