Te mapa
Ezhva is the north-eastern district of Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic, and it grew largely from the 1960s onward around a major timber and paper industry complex. From above it looks like a town of its own: residential blocks laid out in orderly microdistricts, separated from the older city by woodland and river floodplain.
The Vychegda River defines the northern side of the map, looping through low meadows, oxbows and channels typical of the northern taiga. The pulp and paper mill, still one of the largest in Russia, occupies a broad industrial zone whose rail spurs, storage yards and long workshop buildings create a distinctly geometric patch beside the housing.
An Ezhva map poster works through contrast. On one side are the straight lines of planned streets and industrial plots; on the other are the soft curves of the river and the uninterrupted mass of forest. It is the kind of landscape that looks almost abstract at poster scale, yet anyone who has lived there will find their own courtyard instantly.
Wide meanders, old channels and seasonal water meadows spread along the river, forming the most fluid part of the composition and a natural edge to the district.
The large industrial complex that gave Ezhva its reason to exist appears as a grid of rectangles, rail lines and yards, a rare industrial texture in a forested region.
Residential areas follow the Soviet model of large blocks with courtyards, schools and shops inside, so the street network reads as a set of broad, regular cells.

Koteā ko Ezhva
Many families came to Ezhva to work at the mill, and for them a map of the district is shorthand for a whole generation's move north. It also appeals to anyone who grew up in Komi and wants something plainer than a photograph.
Add a personal title, perhaps the name of a street or the year you moved, plus a subtitle and coordinates. Blueprint suits the district's engineered layout, while Noir makes the river stand out; Classic black & white, Paper and Sand are also available.
