Te mapa
Gōtsu lies on the coast of western Shimane Prefecture, where the Gō River flows into the Sea of Japan. The Gō is the longest river in the Chūgoku region, and it dominates the map. A broad channel curves down from the mountains, and the town's streets gather on its banks near the mouth.
Behind the narrow coastal strip, forested hills rise steeply, so the town is squeezed into the flat land along the river and the shore. The San'in Main Line follows the coast through the town. Until 2018 the Sankō Line also ran inland along the river valley toward Hiroshima Prefecture.
The area is known for Sekishū roof tiles, which are glazed a distinctive red-brown and seen on houses across the region. A Gōtsuchō map poster reduces that colour to line and shape but keeps the essential structure of the place. It shows a large river meeting the sea, with a small town built on both.

The San'in Main Line runs along the shore as a thin continuous line. It traces the coast and connects Gōtsu to the other towns on the Sea of Japan side.
Steep wooded slopes rise just inland and leave only narrow flat ground for streets and houses. This gives the town its long riverside form.

Koteā ko Gōtsuchō
People from Gōtsu often choose this map, along with anglers and travellers who followed the river inland and anyone who loves quiet coastal Japan. The strong line of the river gives it a composition that works well at larger sizes.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the town name in Japanese or a family date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sizes include A3, A2, 30×40 cm and 50×70 cm.
