Guchang is a town in the western part of Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country of the eastern Sichuan Basin. From above, it is a compact settlement set among rounded hills, with roads curving around slopes and small reservoirs and terraced fields spread across the surrounding land.
The landscape here is famous for its density of cultivation: nearly every hillside is farmed, and ponds and small reservoirs fill the hollows between them.
