Te mapa
Gunsan sits on the west coast of South Korea, where the Geum River reaches the Yellow Sea. The river forms the northern edge of the city, with Chungcheongnam-do on the opposite bank, and the coast bends south past docks, reclaimed land and industrial estates. The older town centre lies near the river port, with the newer city spreading east and south.
In the early twentieth century Gunsan became a major port for shipping rice to Japan, and a number of buildings from that colonial period remain in the old downtown, now restored as a historic district. Much of that past is visible on the map in the small, regular blocks close to the harbour.
A Gunsan map poster also shows how much the coastline has been engineered. To the southwest begins the Saemangeum seawall, a barrier more than thirty kilometres long that encloses a vast tidal area, and the straight lines of reclaimed land and harbour walls give the print a distinctly modern edge beside the river curves.
The wide mouth of the Geum River borders the city to the north, with the estuary barrage and the far bank forming a strong horizontal band.
Near the harbour, a compact grid of small blocks preserves the layout of the early twentieth-century port town and its surviving buildings.
The seawall stretches away from the coast in a long, straight line, among the longest of its kind in the world, enclosing reclaimed land and water.

Koteā ko Gunsan
Gunsan is a meaningful place for people who grew up there, served at the nearby air base or spent time exploring the old port streets. Its mix of river, sea and engineered shoreline makes a map that is both graphic and personal.
Add names, dates or a short line of your own in the title and subtitle, edit the coordinates, and select one of five styles. Digital files cost $9, and printed posters on matte paper can come with a wooden frame.
