Te mapa
Gwangyang sits on the southern coast of South Korea, where the Seomjin River reaches Gwangyang Bay. Its map is dominated by engineering on a large scale. A huge rectangle of reclaimed land in the bay holds one of the world's largest steelworks, operated by POSCO, and container terminals and industrial piers line the water nearby.
Inland, the older town and newer residential districts spread across the narrow plain between the bay and the mountains. The Yi Sun-sin Bridge, a long suspension bridge, crosses the water toward Yeosu. In early spring, the plum orchards along the Seomjin River draw visitors to one of Korea's best-known blossom festivals.
A Gwangyang map poster brings together all these contrasts: the angular shoreline of reclaimed land, the curves of the estuary, and the mountains that hold the city close to the coast. In black and white the geometry of the port stands out, and the bay gives the composition a strong open centre.
The steelworks occupies a vast, straight-edged island built out into the bay. It reads on the map as a bold geometric block against the water.
A long suspension bridge spans the bay mouth toward Yeosu, drawing a single fine line across open water on the southern side of the map.
The river widens into the bay along the eastern edge of the city, with sandbars and softer shorelines that balance the industrial coast.

Koteā ko Gwangyang
Gwangyang is a meaningful map for people who have worked at the port or the steelworks, or who come each spring for the plum blossoms. Its mix of engineered and natural shoreline is unusual and graphic.
Set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, whether that is a family name, a workplace or a date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the port geometry particularly well.
