Te mapa
Kimhae, also written Gimhae, lies in South Gyeongsang Province directly west of Busan, beside the lower reaches of the Nakdong River. The map shows a city caught between two landscapes: the flat alluvial plain of the delta to the south, crossed by straight drainage channels and roads, and a ring of forested hills to the north and east that the urban area wraps around.
The city centre is compact, with apartment complexes and newer districts spreading along the valleys and onto former farmland. Expressways and a light rail line connect Kimhae to Busan, and Gimhae International Airport, which serves the Busan region, lies just beyond the city's south-eastern boundary. The mix of dense blocks and open green hills gives the map a clear, readable structure.
Kimhae was the centre of Geumgwan Gaya, one of the states of the Gaya confederacy, and tradition holds that its founder, King Suro, is buried here. His tomb and other ancient sites sit within the modern city. A Kimhae map poster connects that deep past with the present layout of expressways, apartment towns and the broad, flat river plain.
To the south, the flat river plain is divided by straight channels and field roads, a calm, geometric area that contrasts with the dense city centre.
Forested ridges enclose the city to the north and east, appearing on the map as open spaces that shape where streets and neighbourhoods can grow.
The burial grounds associated with King Suro form a green space near the centre, a reminder of the Gaya kingdom within the modern street pattern.
