Te mapa
Pohang lies on the east coast of South Korea, wrapped around Yeongil Bay. On a map the most striking element is the Hyeongsan River, which reaches the sea through a flat delta that divides the city in two. The older centre sits north of the river mouth, while the southern bank is dominated by the enormous rectangular layout of the POSCO steelworks.
POSCO, founded here in 1968, grew into one of the world's largest steel producers and shaped the modern city. Its plant is a grid of long buildings, yards and quays that reads almost like a separate town on the map. POSTECH, the research university founded with the company's support, occupies a green campus on the southern side of the city.
East of the bay a peninsula runs out to Homigot, known as one of the first places in Korea to see the sunrise and marked by a large bronze hand rising from the sea. A Pohang map poster brings together bay, delta, harbour and industry in one clear, strongly shaped composition.
The river widens into a flat delta as it meets Yeongil Bay, splitting the city into northern and southern halves joined by several bridges.
A huge industrial site of straight roads, sheds and docks along the southern shore of the bay, one of the most geometric shapes you will find on any city map.
The curved bay gives Pohang its main coastline, with Yeongildae Beach, piers and harbour facilities following the water from the city centre.

Koteā ko Pohang
Pohang is a working city with a strong sense of place, known to steelworkers, students, sailors and summer visitors to its beaches. A map poster connects all of that in a single image that looks equally good in a home or an office.
Personalise the title, add a subtitle with a year or a neighbourhood, and set the coordinates line. Pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame, or download the $9 HD files.
