Te mapa
Kapsan-ŭp is the county seat of Kapsan in Ryanggang Province, a mountainous region in the far north of the Korean peninsula. The geography here is steep. Settlements lie in valleys, and the valley floor holds the town, the roads and the watercourses in a narrow band between ridges.
On a map, the town appears as a small cluster of streets along a river valley. A few roads lead out of it, each following the lowest available route through the hills. Outside the valley, there are almost no lines, and the empty space represents highland terrain that is mostly forest and slope.
A Kapsan-ŭp map poster is a minimal image, made up of a few streets, a river and a road network shaped entirely by the mountains. Mapping data for the region is limited, so the poster shows what is recorded without adding detail. Its value is as a simple outline of a remote place.
The town sits on a valley floor between high ridges, so streets, roads and water all fall within a narrow band of the map.
Roads leave the town by the lowest routes available and follow the valleys, which gives them long, winding lines across the frame.
The land around the valley is steep and forested, so it appears as broad empty space that surrounds the small town.

The poster suits people with family ties to the northern provinces, as well as those who study the peninsula's geography and want a quiet reference image. Its sparse lines work well in a study, beside books and other maps.
