Te mapa
Kayar is on Senegal's Atlantic coast north of Dakar, in the Thiès Region. It is known as one of the country's major centres of artisanal fishing. Each day, large numbers of painted wooden pirogues go out from its beach and come back to land the catch on the sand. Much of the town's life faces the sea.
On the map, the coastline is the dominant feature: a long, straight line of shore running northeast along the Grande Côte. The town itself is a dense mesh of narrow sandy lanes and compact plots pressed close to the beach. Inland, the built area thins out into the Niayes, a belt of dunes and low-lying market gardens behind the coast.
A Kayar map poster captures that clean division between ocean and settlement. There are no harbour walls or piers to break the shoreline, because the beach itself serves as the port. What remains is a clear, graphic edge where the tight pattern of the town meets the open water.
A long, nearly straight Atlantic beach runs along the town's seaward side. It is the boldest line on the map and the working heart of Kayar's fishery.
Houses and courtyards are packed closely behind the beach, forming a fine-grained pattern of small blocks and narrow lanes.
Behind the coast, dunes and hollows used for vegetable growing create a softer, more open texture as the town gives way to the countryside.

Koteā ko Kayar
Kayar is a place tied to the sea and to the families who fish it. A map poster keeps that coastline and those streets close for anyone who grew up there or spent time on its beach.
