Te mapa
Kennedy Town sits at the far western end of Hong Kong Island's northern shore. On the map it is a thin strip of dense streets running along the water, pressed against steep slopes that climb toward Mount Davis. Buildings stand close together on reclaimed flat land, and the contour lines above the town gather quickly as the hillside rises.
The waterfront defines the district. A promenade follows the edge of the harbour where it opens west toward the outlying waters, and the piers and seawalls give the coastline a series of straight, deliberate angles. Inland, a handful of parallel streets run along the shore, joined by short cross streets and stairways that climb the slope.
The area is named after Sir Arthur Kennedy, a nineteenth-century governor of Hong Kong. It is also a terminus twice over: the tram line along the island's north shore ends here, and since 2014 the MTR Island line has too. A Kennedy Town map poster shows how much city fits between the sea and the hill.
The seafront promenade traces the western edge of the harbour in a long straight line, one of the few open horizontal spaces in a district otherwise built close together.
South and west of the streets, the land rises steeply toward Mount Davis, and on the map the tightly packed contours and winding roads show exactly where building stops.
Both the tram and the MTR Island line end in Kennedy Town, so the district reads as the western end point of the long transport corridor along Hong Kong Island.

Koteā ko Kennedy Town
Kennedy Town appeals to people who lived by the water or took the tram to the end of the line. The poster frames a particular Hong Kong mix of steep slope, compact streets and open harbour.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised, and the map comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame, are made by print partners in more than 30 countries.
