Lagdo lies in the North Region of Cameroon, on the Benue River upstream of Garoua. Its defining feature is the Lagdo Dam, built in the 1980s, which created a large reservoir that now dominates the map, with an irregular shoreline reaching into the surrounding savanna.
The dam provides hydroelectric power for the northern part of the country, and the lake supports fishing and irrigated farming. The town itself is a modest cluster of streets near the water, with roads leading toward Garoua and to villages along the shore.
