Te mapa
Lakeside is a community in Clay County, Florida, in the suburban area southwest of Jacksonville near Orange Park. On a map it looks like a typical northeast Florida suburb: winding subdivision streets, cul-de-sacs and main roads connecting them, all separated by creeks, wetlands and patches of pine forest.
Unlike an older city there is no single centre. Neighbourhoods have been built one by one, each with its own internal street pattern, and they join the main roads at a few points. Small ponds and water features dot the area, and stretches of undeveloped land remain between the housing tracts, giving the map a patchy, green feel.
A Lakeside map poster shows the looping, branching street patterns that define much of modern Florida living. In black and white, the curves of the subdivisions and the gaps of wetland make a surprisingly graphic composition, with the main roads as a steady framework holding it all together.
Each neighbourhood has its own pattern of curving streets and cul-de-sacs, forming distinct clusters that fill most of the map.
Creeks and wet, wooded areas wind between the housing tracts, leaving natural gaps in the street network that are typical of northeast Florida.
A few main roads connect the separate neighbourhoods and lead toward Orange Park and Jacksonville, forming the straight structure of the map.
