Open street pattern
Streets and plots are spread loosely rather than tightly packed, which gives the poster a light, airy texture with plenty of white space.

Te mapa
Maro is a town in the Mandoul province, in the far south of Chad, close to the border with the Central African Republic. The landscape here is flat, wooded savanna, crossed by seasonal rivers that swell during the rainy season. From above, the town is an open pattern of streets and compounds rather than a dense grid.
Roads leading in and out form the main lines of the map, with smaller paths running between houses and plots. The edges of town fade into fields and trees, and the outlines of watercourses appear as thin, winding lines across the land. A Maro map poster keeps this open, low-density character and does not force it into a tighter design.
Because of its location near the border, Maro has seen people arrive from neighbouring countries during periods of conflict, and the town has a place in the recent history of the region. For the people who live here and those who have moved away, the map records a specific and personal place.
Streets and plots are spread loosely rather than tightly packed, which gives the poster a light, airy texture with plenty of white space.
The roads leading in and out of town form the strongest lines on the map, anchoring the composition and showing links to the rest of southern Chad.
Beyond the built-up area, the map opens into flat country with thin, winding watercourses, reflecting the wooded savanna of the Mandoul province.

Koteā ko Maro
For people from Maro and the Mandoul region, or for aid workers and teachers who spent time there, this map is a direct reminder of a place that shaped them. It is quiet, spacious and very personal.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a name, a date or a line in French or Arabic, and edit the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the southern savanna particularly well.
