Te mapa
Mbaïki is the capital of the Lobaye prefecture in the southwest of the Central African Republic, a few hours by road from Bangui. The town sits where savanna gives way to dense tropical forest. From above, its streets cluster around a central area, and roads lead out into plantations and woodland.
The Lobaye region has an important place in the country's history. The village of Bobangui, the birthplace of Barthélemy Boganda, the founding figure of the Central African Republic, lies in the area. The surrounding forests have long been farmed for coffee and are also home to Aka communities.
A Mbaïki map poster presents the town as a compact grid set against wide, dark surroundings in the real landscape, which appear as clean white on the page. The roads leading out to the forest give the composition direction. It is a simple, respectful portrait of a regional centre.
The administrative and market core gathers the town's densest streets, forming a clear central cluster on the map.
Routes toward Bangui and the forest villages run from the centre. They are the main lines that tie the town to the region.
Dense forest and plantation land surround the settlement. On the poster they become open space that frames the streets.
