Valley-floor streets
The main streets follow the lowest, flattest ground. This gives the settlement a long, flowing shape rather than a compact grid.

Te mapa
Nakaiburi lies in northern Wakayama Prefecture, in hilly country on the northern edge of the Kii Peninsula. From above, it is a place shaped by valleys: houses and streets gather on the lower ground, and small fields and orchards fill the flatter land between them before the wooded slopes take over.
The wider region is known for its fruit growing and for the mountains to the south, which hold some of Japan's most important sacred sites. Specific information about Nakaiburi in English is scarce, so the map offers a straightforward view: a settlement organised by terrain, as is common across rural Japan.
In monochrome, the curving roads and the pattern of small plots stand out against the hills. A Nakaiburi map poster is understated and detailed, and it works well in Paper, where the fine lines appear almost like an ink drawing.
The main streets follow the lowest, flattest ground. This gives the settlement a long, flowing shape rather than a compact grid.
Small agricultural plots fill the gaps between houses and roads. On the poster they form a fine patchwork around the built-up area.
Forested slopes enclose the valley on several sides. They appear as quiet open space that frames the settlement.
