Te mapa
Nayoro is in the Kamikawa region of northern Hokkaido, set in a broad basin where the Nayoro River joins the Teshio, one of the island's longest rivers. Like many towns founded during the settlement of Hokkaido, it was planned with straight, evenly spaced streets, so its centre looks like a clean grid on the map.
The climate is known for its extremes, with deep snow and some of the coldest winter temperatures in Japan. In summer the surrounding fields change completely, and Nayoro's large sunflower fields bring visitors from across the country. The town also has a public observatory known for stargazing under dark northern skies.
A Nayoro map poster shows a disciplined grid of blocks near the railway station, surrounded by rivers that wind loosely around the town. Beyond the rivers, long farm roads divide the basin into large rectangles, adding a quiet geometry to the edges of the sheet.

The Teshio and Nayoro rivers curve around the town in loose, winding lines, providing a natural contrast to the straight streets.
On the basin floor, long straight farm roads divide the land into broad plots, and in summer many of these fields are covered in sunflowers.

Koteā ko Nayoro
Nayoro means something to people who have lived through its snowy winters or driven north to see the sunflowers in bloom. The map shows the town with the calm clarity of a planned grid set in open land.
Change the title, add a subtitle such as a season or a year, and edit the coordinates. Then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint especially suits the town's precise layout.
