Te mapa
North Babylon is a suburban community on the South Shore of Long Island, in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County. On a map it appears as a close, regular pattern of residential streets and cul-de-sacs, divided by larger roads and highways that connect the area to the rest of Long Island and to New York City.
The Southern State Parkway runs through the community, and just to its north is Belmont Lake State Park, with a lake and wooded grounds that break the suburban street pattern with a large area of open space. Small streams and ponds run south from here toward the Great South Bay.
A North Babylon map poster captures the structure of a classic postwar Long Island suburb: the grid of houses, the curve of the parkway, the lake and parkland in the north. In black and white, these shapes become a clear, graphic portrait of a place that many families have called home.
The state park and its lake form a large open shape at the northern edge of the community, the biggest green space on the map.
The parkway sweeps across North Babylon in a smooth curve, separating neighbourhoods and giving the dense street pattern a strong line through it.
Tightly packed residential streets, loops and cul-de-sacs fill the land between main roads, the typical fabric of postwar South Shore development.
