Te mapa
Quillota lies inland from Valparaíso, on the southern side of the Aconcagua River valley in central Chile. From above, the centre is a clear Spanish colonial grid of square blocks around a main plaza. At the edges, the regular pattern breaks into longer roads and irregular plots as it reaches the fields. Around the valley, dry hills rise above the flat, farmed floor.
The valley's mild climate and fertile soils have made Quillota a farming centre, known especially for avocados and cherimoyas, and orchards surround the town on almost every side. The town was founded in the early eighteenth century. La Campana National Park is not far away, and its mountain was climbed by Charles Darwin in 1834.
A Quillota map poster sets the order of the old grid against the looser geometry of the countryside. The central blocks form a dense, even pattern, the orchards and fields appear as larger parcels, and the river traces its course along the valley. It is a map of a farming town that has kept its original plan.
The historic centre follows a regular pattern of square blocks around the Plaza de Armas, a Spanish grid plan that reads cleanly at any print size.
Around the town, avocado and fruit orchards divide the land into larger rectangles and strips, giving the outer map a looser, agricultural rhythm.
The river runs along the valley near the town. Its broad channel and gravel banks form a soft, shifting line against the straight streets.

Koteā ko Quillota
For people from the Aconcagua valley, Quillota's grid is an unmistakable image of home. For those who know Valparaíso and the central coast, it offers a quieter inland counterpart, marked by fields and hills rather than the sea.
