Te mapa
Ropar, officially Rupnagar, lies in Punjab at the point where the Sutlej River emerges from the Shivalik foothills onto the plains. From above, the river is the dominant feature: a broad band of water and sandbanks running past the town, crossed by the headworks that divert its flow into the Sirhind Canal.
The town's history reaches back to the Harappan period, and excavations here have made it one of the known sites of that civilisation in Punjab. Today Ropar is a district headquarters and home to the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, whose campus sits on the outskirts. Streets gather on the river's southern side, with roads leading toward Chandigarh and Anandpur Sahib.
A Ropar map poster shows a place defined by water engineering and landform. The wide river, the straight canal, the hills to the north and the town between them make a strong, clear composition, especially in monochrome where the river's pale expanse stands out.
The barrage across the Sutlej diverts water into the Sirhind Canal, a straight engineered line that leaves the river and heads out across the Punjab plains.
The river passes the town as a wide band of channels and sandbanks, taking up much of the map and giving it a strong horizontal sweep.
Low hills rise just north of the town, so the map captures the exact point where the foothills give way to the flat, cultivated plain.

Koteā ko Ropar
Ropar is meaningful to IIT students and graduates, to families from the district and to anyone interested in the rivers of Punjab. The river and canal make a map that is both personal and visually bold.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, then pick one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint. Buy HD files for $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
