Te mapa
Sanjiang lies in the hilly south of Chongqing municipality, in country where every town has to deal with rivers and slopes. Its name means three rivers, and water shapes the map. The built-up area follows the riverbanks and the lower ground, stretching into narrow bands instead of spreading evenly.
As in much of Chongqing, the terrain decides where streets can go. Roads curve around hills, bridges carry traffic across the water, and neighbourhoods climb the slopes in stacked terraces. Past the edge of town, the land quickly turns to hills and farmland, crossed by winding roads.
A Sanjiang map poster captures that river-and-hill logic. The river bends set the composition, the streets fill the flatter ground along the water, and the empty spaces show where the land rises too steeply for building. It is a small version of the landscape that defines the wider Chongqing region.
As the name suggests, rivers meet near the town. Their curving courses give the map its main shape and divide the built-up area.
The densest streets follow the flat ground along the water. They form long narrow bands instead of a compact block.
Steep slopes leave unbuilt areas between neighbourhoods. On the poster they appear as calm open spaces set against the busy streets.
