Te mapa
Siquirres lies in Limón Province, in the humid Caribbean lowlands of eastern Costa Rica, where the land flattens out after dropping from the central highlands. From above, the town is a compact grid of streets beside Route 32, the main highway linking San José with the port of Limón, with a railway line passing through and farmland spreading out on every side.
The landscape around it is dominated by agriculture, above all banana and pineapple plantations, whose drainage canals and access roads draw long, straight lines across the plain. Rivers descending from the mountains, including the Reventazón and the Pacuare, cross the district on their way to the Caribbean, and the Pacuare is well known for whitewater rafting upstream.
A Siquirres map poster suits people from the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, rafting guides and travellers who passed through on the road to the coast. The design sets the tight town grid against the geometric farmland beyond, a contrast that works well in monochrome, and the title can carry words of your own.
The highway from San José to Limón runs past the town, a strong line on the map that ties Siquirres to the capital on one side and the Caribbean port on the other.
Banana and pineapple farms surround the town with straight canals and service roads, forming a precise pattern of rectangles around the looser streets of the centre.
The Reventazón and Pacuare rivers flow through the district from the highlands toward the sea, drawing sinuous lines across the flat lowland terrain.

Koteā ko Siquirres
For families from Siquirres, this map marks home in a region often overlooked in favour of the beaches further south. For travellers, it recalls the point where the highlands give way to the Caribbean plain and the rivers slow down.
