Te mapa
Slavgorod stands in the Kulunda steppe in western Altai Krai, close to the border with Kazakhstan. It was founded in the early twentieth century, when settlers moved onto these open plains. The land is almost perfectly flat, and the town plan shows it. Long, straight streets cross at right angles and form a regular grid of blocks.
The railway passes along the town, and shelterbelts and field boundaries run out across the steppe in equally straight lines. The wider region is known for its salt lakes and for a long tradition of German settlement in the nearby villages. Much of that history shows in the orderly layout of the countryside.
A Slavgorod map poster is a study in rhythm. The grid repeats block after block, and the surrounding plain is ruled by straight roads. In monochrome, it looks almost like an architectural drawing, a very Siberian geometry set against a wide, empty horizon.
Straight streets meet at right angles across the whole town. The result is a regular, measured pattern that fills the poster from edge to edge.
The railway runs along the town and serves as a firm boundary. On the map it is a long, unbroken line.
Beyond the last blocks, the flat Kulunda plain takes over. Field roads and shelterbelts continue the straight-line logic out toward the horizon.
