Te mapa
Soalala lies on the northwest coast of Madagascar, in the Boeny region, beside Baly Bay. Its map is mostly about water. The town sits on the shore of a wide, shallow bay, and around it the coast breaks into tidal flats, mangrove channels and river mouths. The street pattern is small and simple compared with the complicated coastline around it.
The area is best known for Baly Bay National Park, which protects dry forest, mangroves and wetlands. The park is the only natural home of the ploughshare tortoise, or angonoka, one of the rarest tortoises in the world. Soalala serves as the local town for this remote stretch of coast, reached by long roads or by sea.
A Soalala map poster is really a coastal study. The town is a small cluster of streets, and most of the frame is taken up by the bay's edge and the channels that run into it. In black and white, that coastline becomes a detailed drawing in its own right, and the town sits in it as a small, exact mark.
The town faces a broad, shallow bay, and the shoreline beside it is a long, soft curve that dominates the map.
Tidal channels and mangrove edges break the coast into fine branching shapes, especially where rivers reach the bay.
The town itself is a compact cluster of streets and tracks, a small built area set against a large expanse of water and wetland.

Koteā ko Soalala
Soalala means something particular to those who live on this coast, to conservation workers who have spent time near Baly Bay and to travellers who reached it the long way. A map of the bay keeps that remoteness in view.
You can write your own title, add a subtitle with a date or a reason, and keep the coordinates line. Blueprint and Noir suit the coastline well, while Paper, Sand and Classic black & white give it the look of an old survey chart.
