Te mapa
Tagas lies in the province of Albay, in the Bicol Region of southern Luzon, on the lowland around Mayon Volcano. On a map, the settlement is a loose cluster of streets and houses along a few roads, surrounded by fields, streams and scattered neighbourhoods that merge into the wider urban area nearby.
Mayon, known for its near-perfect cone, dominates the landscape of this part of Albay. Its slopes shape the drainage of the whole area, with channels running down toward the plain and the coast. The communities around it have learned to live with the volcano, which has erupted many times in recorded history.
A Tagas map poster shows a small place in a larger landscape. The streets form a modest web, and the lines of rivers and channels cross the surrounding land. In black and white, the composition is calm and open, with the regularity of the roads set against the natural flow of water.
The community lies on the plain around Mayon Volcano, and the drainage patterns of the surrounding land reflect the slopes of the famous cone.
A few main roads carry most of the traffic through Tagas, with smaller streets branching off to residential areas and fields.
Streams and channels cross the surrounding land, adding thin, winding lines of water that contrast with the straight road pattern.
