Te mapa
Takaishi is one of the smallest cities in Osaka Prefecture, set between Sakai to the north and Izumiōtsu to the south. On the map it forms a slender strip running inland from Osaka Bay, with dense residential blocks, parallel railway lines and a waterfront that has been pushed outward by large areas of reclaimed industrial land.
The original shoreline here was a pine-lined beach known in classical literature as Takashi no Hama, mentioned in a poem included in the Hyakunin Isshu anthology. Over the twentieth century much of that coast was reclaimed for industry, and today the old beach line is traced by railways and roads rather than sand.
A Takaishi map poster shows these layers within a small area: the fine grain of houses and shops, the straight corridors of the Nankai and JR lines, and the broad, geometric forms of the reclaimed shore. It is a portrait of an Osaka Bay town defined as much by its former coastline as by its present one.
Large rectangular blocks of industrial land extend into the bay, their straight edges and channels forming a bold geometric band along the western side.
Railways run through the city roughly parallel to the coast, strong lines that separate the dense residential grain from the industrial zone.
The line of the historic beach can still be read in the way roads and rail follow it, a quiet memory of the classical Takashi no Hama.

Koteā ko Takaishi
Takaishi is the kind of place people know from daily life rather than from travel: a commute, a school, a family home near the bay. A map gives those ordinary routes a clarity and weight they rarely receive.
Set any title and subtitle, in English or romanised Japanese, add coordinates or a date, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Every $9 purchase includes 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files in six sizes, including A3 and A2.
