Tha Ruea is a district town in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province in central Thailand, on the flat, water-rich plain north of Bangkok. The Pa Sak River runs through the area, and from above the town is organised along its curving banks. The name itself refers to a boat landing, a reminder of how closely life here has been tied to the river.
Around the town, rice fields and irrigation channels create a fine, regular pattern of lines across the plain. The built area is modest, with streets following the river and the main roads that connect Tha Ruea to neighbouring districts. A railway line also crosses the area, adding another long, straight element to the map.
