Te mapa
Yugawara occupies the southwestern corner of Kanagawa Prefecture, where the hills of the Hakone area drop toward Sagami Bay. The Chitose River marks its boundary with Shizuoka Prefecture and the neighbouring city of Atami, and the town's shape follows water closely: a coastal strip near the station and a long settlement reaching inland along the valley of the Fujiki River.
The town is best known for its onsen, which have drawn visitors for centuries. In the modern era it became a retreat for writers, and names such as Natsume Sōseki and Akutagawa Ryūnosuke are linked with its inns. The ryokan and bathhouses cluster in the upper valley, where the road winds with the river and the hills close in on both sides.
A Yugawara map poster shows this contrast between the open bay and the tight inland valley. The coastline and rail line run along the eastern edge, while the hot spring district draws a thin line of streets into the forested slopes. It is a small place with a clear, readable shape, well suited to a minimalist print.
The hot spring quarter stretches along this narrow valley, with streets, inns and footpaths squeezed between the river and steep wooded hillsides on either side.
A short river forms the border between Kanagawa and Shizuoka, so the southern edge of the map is also the line between two prefectures.
The coast bends gently along the eastern side, where the railway and coastal road run close to the water on their way toward Atami.

Koteā ko Yugawara
Many people remember Yugawara from a single weekend: a room above the valley, an evening bath, a walk by the river. A map of the town turns that short stay into something lasting, especially as a gift after a trip or for an anniversary.
