The map

About this Herzliya map poster

Herzliya lies on Israel's coastal plain just north of Tel Aviv. On the map it reads as two parts. The older town sits inland around its original grid, and Herzliya Pituah stretches along the sea with villas, hotels, office parks and a marina. The coastal highway and the railway run between them in straight, parallel lines.

Founded in 1924, the city takes its name from Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern political Zionism. Today it is best known for its technology companies and its beaches. At the northern edge, on sandstone cliffs above the sea, lies Apollonia National Park, with the remains of the Crusader fortress of Arsuf.

A Herzliya map poster shows the full sweep, from the regular inland streets to the curving coastal roads, the breakwaters of the marina and the long, straight shoreline. In black and white the sea becomes a calm, empty field against the busy pattern of the city. The result is a clean and balanced composition.

01

Herzliya Pituah coast

The seaside district runs along the shore with a marina, beaches and office parks. On the map its roads loosen and curve toward the water.

02

Apollonia cliffs

At the northern edge, sandstone cliffs hold the ruins of the Crusader fortress of Arsuf. They add a clear natural boundary to the city's outline.

03

Highway and rail

The coastal highway and the railway cross the city in straight parallel lines. They split the older inland town from the newer districts near the sea.
