The map

About this Itajubá map poster

Itajubá sits in the south of Minas Gerais, in the valley of the Sapucaí River at the foot of the Serra da Mantiqueira. On a map, the river winds through the lower part of the city, and the streets fill the valley floor before climbing into the surrounding hills. Higher ridges close off the horizon in almost every direction.

The city has a strong technical identity. Its engineering school, founded in 1913, grew into the Federal University of Itajubá, one of Brazil's traditional centres for engineering education. Industry followed, including helicopter manufacturing and a long-established arms factory, which makes Itajubá unusual among the small cities of the region.

An Itajubá map poster shows a city shaped by its valley: river bends, a dense central grid, and outer neighbourhoods reaching up the slopes. The mountain setting keeps the plan compact, and the curves of the Sapucaí give the print a clear, flowing line through the middle.

01

Sapucaí bends

The river loops through the lower city, its meanders setting the edges of several neighbourhoods and the line of the main avenues.

02

University campus

The federal university occupies a large campus area, a distinct block of open space and buildings within the urban pattern.

03

Mantiqueira ridges

Steep green slopes rise around the valley, limiting the city's growth and giving the map a naturally enclosed shape.

Why Itajubá

A map that means something

Itajubá means a great deal to generations of engineers who studied there and to the families of the valley. A map of the city is a fitting graduation gift or a reminder of student years spent between the river and the hills.

Add a personal title, a graduation year as the subtitle and your chosen coordinates. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as HD files in six sizes or a printed poster.
