The map

About this Ra'anana map poster

Ra'anana lies on the Sharon plain in central Israel, a few kilometres inland from the Mediterranean, between Kfar Saba and Herzliya. It was founded in 1922 by a group of Jewish settlers from New York as an agricultural colony, and citrus groves once surrounded the first houses. Today it is a residential city that has kept a lower, greener profile than many of its neighbours.

From above, the city is organised around Ahuza Street, the long central axis running east to west. Residential neighbourhoods fan out on both sides in a mixture of short grids and curved cul-de-sacs, and major roads and highways border the built-up area. The flat terrain means the street network shows few breaks from relief, and the layout reads with unusual clarity.

The largest open shape on a Ra'anana map poster is Ra'anana Park in the north, one of the bigger urban parks in the country, with a lake and looping paths. Against the dense lattice of suburban streets, it forms a pale, irregular clearing. Together with the straight line of Ahuza Street, it gives the city a simple, recognisable structure that works well in a minimal print.

01

Ahuza Street spine

The main street runs straight through the city from west to east. Most of the other roads branch off it, so this single line anchors the whole composition of the map.

02

Ra'anana Park

A large open area at the northern side of the city, with a lake and curving footpaths. On the poster it appears as a soft, rounded gap within the surrounding residential blocks.

03

Sharon plain edges

Highways and remaining farmland mark the city's boundary. The built area ends quite abruptly, so the town appears as a self-contained shape with open space beyond it.

Why Ra'anana

A map that means something

Ra'anana is home to many families who arrived from abroad, and a map of it often marks a new beginning, a first home or a childhood spent near the park. The clean, planned layout makes the street pattern easy to recognise at a glance.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a family name and an arrival date, and pick from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The print-ready files cost $9, or you can order a framed poster from a local print partner.
