Te mapa
Bakau occupies the stretch of Gambian coast where the mouth of the River Gambia opens into the Atlantic. From above, the town is framed by water on more than one side, with the ocean along its shore and the wide estuary turning toward Banjul. Cape Point, the headland at its tip, gives the map a clean, angular corner that anchors the whole composition.
Inland from the shore the street pattern is tight and irregular, a mesh of lanes and compounds that thickens toward the main roads linking Bakau with Serekunda and the capital. Coastal hotels and the fishing beach sit along the waterline, while the older residential core fills the space behind them in small, closely packed blocks that render as fine, dense texture.
Bakau is known for the Kachikally crocodile pool, a sacred pool visited for generations, and for its botanical garden near the coast. On a Bakau map poster those green spaces appear as small open pockets inside the dense grid, and the coastline does the rest, drawing a firm line between the crowded town and the Atlantic beyond.

Behind the shore, narrow lanes and compounds form a close, irregular mesh, rendering as detailed fine-line texture that contrasts with the blank expanse of water.
The sacred crocodile pool sits within the town as a small green pocket among the streets, one of the few open spaces in the built-up core.

Koteā ko Bakau
Bakau is a place many Gambians call home and many visitors remember as their first view of the Atlantic coast here. A poster keeps the headland, the beach and the lanes behind it together in one frame, a quiet reminder of sea air and familiar streets.
