Te mapa
Bangued is the capital of Abra Province in the Cordillera region of northern Luzon. It sits in a broad valley where the Abra River runs between mountain ranges. From above, the town's centre is a compact grid on the flat ground near the river, while roads and smaller settlements spread along the valley floor and up into the foothills.
A distinctive feature right in town is Casamata Hill, a small rise topped by Victoria Park that offers views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Around it, the grid of streets is regular, with the provincial capitol and church near the heart of town. Beyond that, the river and its sandbars shape everything, with rice fields filling much of the level ground.
A Bangued map poster shows a town defined by its valley. The river's wide, braided channel cuts across the composition, the street grid holds together on one bank, and the edges of the map turn into slopes where the road network fades out. In black and white, that balance of order and terrain reads clearly.
The river runs past the town in a wide, braided channel, with sandbars and multiple streams visible on the map. It is the main natural boundary on this side of Bangued.
A small hill near the centre, home to Victoria Park. On the map it shows as a green rise where the regular street grid bends around the slope.
Roads follow the valley floor out of town toward other municipalities of Abra. They are long lines tracing the river, with mountains rising on either side.

Bangued is home for many families who have since moved to Manila or abroad, and for them the valley, the river and the hill in the middle of town are fixed points. A map records those features precisely.
