Te mapa
Tabuk is the capital of Kalinga province in the Cordillera Administrative Region of northern Luzon. Unlike the steep mountain towns higher up in the Cordillera, much of Tabuk lies on the wide, fairly level floor of the Chico River valley. On a map it appears as a network of roads and barangays scattered across farmland rather than a single dense core.
The Chico River is the defining line, flowing through the valley on its way to the Cagayan River. Irrigated rice fields cover much of the lowland around it, and the roads follow field boundaries and irrigation channels. This gives a Tabuk map poster a patchwork texture quite unlike a typical city grid.
Tabuk became a city in the 2000s and is the commercial and administrative centre of the province. It sits where lowland meets mountain: the plain opens eastward toward the Cagayan Valley, while the land to the west rises quickly into the ridges that cover much of Kalinga.
The river runs through the valley in broad bends, a wide pale line that organises the settlements and farmland around it and anchors the whole composition.
Irrigated paddies spread across much of the valley floor, so field edges and canals draw a fine mesh across the map between the clusters of houses.
The administrative centre is the densest point on the map, where the main roads meet and the scattered rural pattern briefly tightens into streets and blocks.

Koteā ko Tabuk
For people from Kalinga, Tabuk is where the province comes together for school, markets and government. This map shows the wide valley that makes the city unusual in the Cordillera, a quiet image for a home or office.
