Te mapa
Batac City lies in Ilocos Norte, on the fertile plain between the mountains of northern Luzon and the South China Sea. From above, the city shows a compact centre with a regular street pattern around its church and plaza, surrounded by extensive rice fields. Roads lead out towards Laoag and other towns in the province.
Batac is known as the hometown of Ferdinand Marcos, and the Marcos Museum and Mausoleum is located here. The city is also home to the main campus of Mariano Marcos State University, whose grounds appear on the map as a large area of buildings and open space distinct from the surrounding residential streets.
Small rivers and irrigation channels cross the agricultural land around the city, adding flowing lines to the pattern of fields. A Batac City map poster brings together the plaza and centre, the university campus and the roads reaching into the plain, drawn in clean lines that emphasise the town's orderly core and open setting.
The historic centre is organised around the church and town plaza, with streets arranged in a regular pattern common to Spanish-era towns in the Philippines.
The main campus of Mariano Marcos State University forms a large, distinct block on the map, with its own internal roads and open grounds.
Rice fields and waterways surround the city, giving the plan a wide, open setting that frames the compact urban centre.
