Te mapa
Bimbila, also written Bimbilla, is a town in the eastern part of Ghana's Northern Region, toward the border with Togo. It is the administrative centre of the Nanumba North area and the traditional seat of the Nanumba paramount chief, the Bimbilla Naa. From above, the town is compact and low-rise, with streets gathering around its centre and thinning quickly into the farmland around it.
The landscape here is Guinea savanna: open woodland, farm plots for yams, maize and other crops, and unpaved roads linking outlying villages. Streams run through the wider area toward the Oti River basin, and in the rainy season they reshape the countryside. On a map this produces a spare, airy composition, with long lines radiating outward from a small, dense core.
A Bimbila map poster has the directness of a place that has not been overdrawn. A few main roads, a tight cluster of streets and a great deal of open space make for a simple, balanced image. For people from Nanumba, it is a recognisable piece of home. For others, it is a reminder of how much meaning a modest map can hold.
The town's streets and buildings form a small, concentrated cluster, easy to read at any size and clearly separated from the surrounding land.
Roads and tracks leave the town in several directions toward villages and neighbouring districts, drawing long, clean lines across the frame.
Open woodland and farm plots surround the town, a lightly marked landscape that gives the edges of the map a calm, uncluttered feeling.
