Te mapa
Dịch Vọng is an urban area in western Hanoi, in the Cầu Giấy district, part of the city that changed rapidly from villages and fields into dense city over recent decades. It grew around an older village of the same name, and it now combines traditional alley housing with office towers, schools and new residential blocks. It is one of Hanoi's busiest areas for education and business.
On a map, the contrast between old and new is very clear. Wide, straight arterial roads frame the area, carrying heavy traffic between central Hanoi and the western districts. Inside those boundaries is a fine web of narrow lanes and alleys, often called ngõ, which branch and turn in irregular patterns inherited from the former village layout. Small ponds and green spaces appear as scattered open spots.
A Dịch Vọng map poster brings out the texture of contemporary Hanoi: large boulevards on the outside and a dense tangle of lanes within. It suits students who lived in its alleys, families who watched the area change and anyone who calls this part of the city home.
Major roads border the area in long, straight lines, forming a strong frame around the neighbourhood and linking it to central Hanoi.
Inside the grid of main roads, narrow alleys branch and twist through the old village fabric, creating the densest, most intricate part of the map.
Green spaces and small bodies of water, including the large park nearby in Cầu Giấy, break up the dense housing and appear as open shapes.
