Te mapa
Dippa Kunda is part of the continuous urban area that spreads west of Banjul, within the Kanifing municipality near Serrekunda. It is predominantly residential, and from above the map shows a close pattern of compounds and sandy lanes. Main roads mark its edges and carry traffic towards Banjul, Serrekunda and the Atlantic coast.
The layout is dense rather than grand: small blocks, short streets and courtyards packed side by side, with occasional open spaces such as school grounds or football pitches breaking the texture. The neighbourhood merges into its neighbours with no clear boundary, which is typical of this part of the Gambian coast, where settlements have grown together into one urban area.
A Dippa Kunda map poster captures that fine-grained, crowded pattern of everyday streets. In black and white, the lanes form an intricate texture framed by the heavier lines of the main roads. It is a personal keepsake for residents and for Gambians abroad who want the streets of home on their wall.
Narrow lanes run between walled family compounds, creating a very fine, dense street texture across most of the neighbourhood.
Busier roads frame the area and link it with Serrekunda, Banjul and the coast, showing as heavier lines around the residential grain.
School yards and football pitches appear as occasional open rectangles, the only breaks in an otherwise tightly built pattern.
