Te mapa
Dongxi is a town in the Qijiang district in the far south of Chongqing municipality, close to the border with Guizhou. The terrain here is steep and folded, and on a map the settlement follows the course of a river through a narrow valley. Streets run along the water and climb the surrounding slopes in short, winding stretches, with little room for a regular grid.
The town is known for its old quarter, a historic riverside district of traditional buildings, stone steps and bridges that draws visitors from the wider Chongqing area. Newer housing has been built along the valley and on higher ground, so the map shows both the tight, irregular lanes of the old town and the larger blocks of recent development.
A Dongxi map poster is defined by landform more than planning. The river bends, the roads coil up hillsides and the town stretches in a long, uneven shape wherever the valley allows. Paper and Sand emphasise the organic, almost hand-drawn quality of these lines, while Classic black and white keeps them sharp and graphic.
The river runs through the middle of town, and almost every street follows its curves, giving the map a long, sinuous form from one edge to the other.
The historic quarter by the water is a close web of narrow lanes, steps and small bridges, the most finely detailed part of the printed map.
Beyond the valley floor, roads zigzag up steep slopes toward villages and farmland, tracing the shape of the hills that enclose the town.

Koteā ko Dongxi
For those with family ties to Dongxi, or visitors who walked its old streets by the river, a map of the town captures the place with more precision than a photograph. It is a thoughtful gift for relatives who have moved to Chongqing city or further away.
