Te mapa
Gwanda is the capital of Matabeleland South Province in southern Zimbabwe, on the main road between Bulawayo and the Beitbridge border crossing with South Africa. The town serves a wide surrounding district. On a map it appears as an ordered cluster of streets in dry, open country with low hills and scrub.
The layout reflects its origins as a colonial-era administrative and mining centre. A grid of streets fills the centre, government and commercial buildings line the main roads, and residential suburbs spread outward in more curving patterns. The railway runs through town, and seasonal rivers cross the surrounding land as thin, branching lines.
The area has long been associated with gold mining, and workings of different sizes are scattered through the district. A Gwanda map poster focuses on the town itself, drawing its grid, main road and railway against the open veld of Matabeleland South.
The Bulawayo–Beitbridge road passes through Gwanda as a strong line across the map. It is the route that connects the town to the rest of the region.
Straight streets and regular blocks form the core of town. This is the most ordered part of the map and the site of its public buildings.
Dry riverbeds and streams cross the surrounding land, adding fine, irregular lines to the open country around the suburbs.

Koteā ko Gwanda
For people from Matabeleland South, Gwanda is the centre of the province, a place of schools, offices and family connections. A map poster makes a meaningful gift for someone who grew up here or has moved abroad.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be changed to include a name or a date, and the design comes in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters use matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
