Te mapa
Hwasun lies just beyond Gwangju in South Jeolla Province, and its map is dominated by mountains. The town centre sits in a valley, with its streets following the river and the lower ground. Wooded ridges rise on every side. Roads leave the town through narrow passes, linking it with Gwangju and with smaller villages tucked into side valleys.
The county holds some of Korea's most notable historic sites. The Hwasun dolmen site, a large group of prehistoric stone tombs, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing for the Gochang, Hwasun and Ganghwa dolmen sites. Unjusa, a temple known for its many stone pagodas and Buddha figures scattered across the hillsides, and Ssangbongsa, with its distinctive wooden hall, also lie within the county.
A Hwasun map poster reflects that layered landscape: a modest town in its valley, surrounded by ridges that shelter prehistoric tombs and old temples. The street network is small compared with the hills around it, and the river gives the composition a clear central line. The result is quiet and spacious, with a strong sense of terrain.

Hwasun's main streets follow the river along the valley floor. The result is a compact, elongated core surrounded by high ground.
Roads leave town through gaps in the surrounding ridges and wind toward Gwangju and outlying villages. They add curving lines to the edges of the poster.
